He may call himself a simple monk, but his life has been anything but. The Dalai Lama is the religious and political leader of the Tibetan people – a living symbol of their struggle against the brutal Chinese occupation of their homeland. We travelled to northern India where the Dalai Lama lives in exile to interview him and to speak with his followers. We also used amazing archive footage in Tibet to show the situation from which he fled in 1959.
