China’s Growing Drug Problem 7:00, 2002 (Ref: AS02240)

Description

China has joined the ranks of modern countries where the drug “ecstasy” is consumed in late night dance clubs – where young people turn to prostitution to support heroin habits and where police are virtually powerless to stop traffickers.

The growing drug problem has been created – at least in part – by western-style reforms and the increasing wealth that reforms have brought.

But China is working on a very Chinese-style solution: Boot camps for young drug offenders. We got rare access to Chinese night-clubs, police raids and the boot camps.
