In 2002 we went back to Ground Zero for the first anniversary to meet New Yorkers and hear their memories of September 11th – which were being channelled into a campaign for a lasting memorial to those who died.
All of New York city’s residents have been touched by the disaster – and the overpowering emotions that still exist were demonstrated recently when the city Fathers were forced to tear up their plans for the reconstruction of the former World Trade Center site.
